Track 15: Random Techno song from a cd burned by David Baughman to me entitled Jenni 2.0 from 2001... I can't search any words for there are none... I don't normally listen to techno and have no love for this song, so I cut it without any feelings...
The Light: Sara Bareilles: This is actually a light and sweet song, peaceful and calming. One Star.
How Many Times, How Many Lies: PussyCat Dolls: As this came on I thought, should I do with this cd like I did Will Smith? Well, I decided no. At least not right now. I found this song to be kind of fun and slinky, I am not keeping it, but I could see it being on a Girl Power type playlist. They do have good voices.
I Won't Give Up: Jason Mraz: When I hear this song now, I am so glad Harrison and I did not choose it for our wedding song. It got overplayed. It is a nice song, and I really loved it last year and it honestly was a contender for us. As far as love songs go, this one does kind of confuse me, are they already married five, ten years and having a rough patch? Is it just a "in case you need your space" in the future kind or song? I don't know. But I do like that he won't give up, Two Stars.
Young Folks: Peter Bjorn and John: from Grey's Anatomy: This song makes me want to whistle. Their voices though... I love it. I can't quite describe what it is about her voice that I like, that she doesn't seem to be trying at all... it's slightly flat? I don't know, but I love it. Two Stars.
Sacrifice: Elton John: I know what you might be thinking... Is this girl crazy?! Well, I might be, but let's stick to music mmk? There's something about Elton that I just love. Maybe I love him to be different and have that set me apart, having someone like him be one of my favorite artists. Maybe it is just that he has a good voice, a fun personality, and a flamboyant sense of style. There's something so 70's/80's about him, that keeps me coming back for more. This isn't one of my favorites by him, its a little slow and not as magical for me as others... but I still love it. I will keep it for those times you just need some Elton in your car. One Star.
Bulletproof Heart: My Chemical Romance: A kind of Rockopera... I like it. I haven't quite followed the story of this song, but I think I want to keep it for the effect of the whole cd. I do like their sound, I think it is a little typical and also a little unexpected and different. This song ends with a little alien like sound and I just like it. One Star.
The Phantom Of The Opera: Well speaking of Operas! Confession time... this is one song I love to sing in my car. I love to try to sing along at the end and belt out all of those notes... But I can only do this ALONE! Why? Because sometimes my voice cracks and I can't have anyone around to know that this happens! It is too embarrassing to do in front of others. Also confession: and apology. Sorry Katie, roommate in 2006... sorry you had to hear me and Tish sing this ALL. THE. TIME. We were young and impressionable and it was fun... I'll keep it, but it doesn't get much air time... Still a great song so Two Stars.
Family Theme: Sondre Lerche: Dan In Real Life Soundtrack: This is a good movie. I didn't appreciate it the first time through, but having multiple friends having it as one of their favorites I gave it another try, and loved it and the soundtrack... so good. I just like it. I feel like this is light and what real life soundtracks would sound like... Two Stars. cause it is too short!!
Polygraph, Right Now: Spill Canvas: First off, I love this band. Also, Tish from 2006 introduced me to them. I love their angst, they have a good beat, and I love singing along to them always. This song is good when you're angry and feeling ignored, especially by the opposite sex --when you're dating Especially!! This was most applicable to my life in 2007, when I really thought this guy "Dave" and I were really clicking and should date... but he was basically using me and kept playing me. This song fueled me on some runs, Three Stars.
So, an update, I think I have kept about 80 and reviewed 111 songs so far!! I am also down to about 3,924 songs-- I tried to go through and delete duplicates. Kind of exciting to see what I've done so far!
I am really enjoying this, I won't give up.

Intuition
Intuition: Jewel: I think I have always felt like this song was a sell out. It has a catchy tune, but I don't care for it.
Better: Regina Spektor: I felt like I should keep this song, It would be a good song for cleaning around the house. One Star.
Holiday From Real: Jacks Mannequin: Warning, swearing in this one. I do like this song, it has a smooth sound, and sometimes you need a holiday from the real life. One Star.
You're The Ultimate: Lindsay Lohan: That's right. I have this cd. Not Ashamed. While this one seems like a sell out too... it works for me. Especially on my cheesy girlie music mix... It makes me think of jumping on the couches, singing into hair brushes, girlie slumber party, I must keep it! One Star!
Reasons to Love You: Meiko: Another good one for dancing in the kitchen, singing along to in the shower, in the car, everywhere. It's cute, it's light and simple, and it's love. Her voice is melodic and makes you want to sing along, to try to slide your voice. Three Stars for it's simplicity and hypnotizing qualities.
Back In Time: Pit Bull: I love this song. I love the addition of the song from Dirty Dancing, I like the hip hop on top of it, I just think it is fun and a great song to pump you up! Three Stars.
The Boy's Gone: Jason Mraz: I find this song to be soothing and calm. I enjoyed it, made me want to dance a little too, it's got a good bolero or west coast swing type feeling to it for me. Two Stars.
So Fresh: Will Smith: Well, I've decided I should go through all of Will's songs and do a pre cut... cause this song was too fresh for me... cut... I also decided to cut: I'm Comin, Freakin' It, Da Butta, La Fiesta, Who Am I, Afro Angel, Pump Me Up, Can You Feel Me, Potnas, No More, Uuhhh. I did keep some songs, I will play those as they come up!
Sugar Rush: A*Teens: sickingly sweet, but I still love it. It's one that makes me smile when it comes on during a random play (like today!) So I give it One Star.
Ghost Of A Good Thing: Dashboard Confessional: Ahh, classic Dashboard... I love this song. I struggle to say "Ghosts" but like to try with this song. Hauntingly beautiful as most Dashboard songs are, makes me think of high school, driving, and that one boy I'd sit in the parking lot with talking about our lives listening to DC and the time that he tried to confess his love to me and I didn't want to hear it...

Rain
It Will Rain: Bruno Mars (Twilight Breaking Dawn 2 Soundtrack): I enjoy this song, it is full of heartbreak and is great for a rainy day. (I actually thought about typing in Rain into iTunes and just doing a review on only songs that talk about Rain...should each Sunday post be themed? hmmm..) I can see this as a song used on So You Think You Can Dance, it could be a routine with a lot of emotion, it would be cool if it were done in water, and was about them separating... or maybe those moments when they are together the sun is out and the rain is stopped... Okay, SYTYCD, hire me already!! Two Stars.
Rain: SWV: A nice little 90's slow jam hit... I like the actual sound of water dripping and the clouds rolling in. It reminds me of listening to the mixed tapes my sister and her friends would make. This song is fun to listen to every once in awhile, so I will keep it around. One Star.
Feel Like Rain: Motion City Soundtrack: This is a more upbeat song, because sometimes you just feel like rain. One Star.
Umbrella: Mandy Moore: If I were to make a playlist all about rain, you would need one about an umbrella! See a review of this song on this post
Let The Rain: Sara Bareillas: I like Sara's voice, it is calming and smooth. There is something so healing about rain, I've always been a romantic and want that kiss in the rain... In Rexburg there were times in the summer where the rain was warm, and it was hot outside and it was fun to just dance in and kick around! I think this song is fun, I like the clapping in it. I don't think I had ever heard it before, but I give it Two Stars.
Llovera (It Will Rain): Mia Maestro (Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 Soundtrack) I could see myself keeping this song for meditation purposes... but a minute in an I am kind of bored... It kind of picks back up around 1:40, but then it almost seems like 4 songs in one with the breaks it has... I feel like I should keep it for the soundtrack, but I don't really want to... cut...
Now When The Rain Falls: Linda Eder: I liked this song originally because on my dance team we danced to a song by Linda Eder, so I looked up more music by her and I liked this one. She does have a good voice, maybe a little more vibrato than is necessary... I like the message of the song, but don't think I will listen to it enough to keep it...
Only A Rainbow Away: Fefe Dobson: this is a very dramatic difference in her style, and I actually forgot I was writing a review during this, It is a great lullaby. Two Stars.
Only Happy When It Rains: Garbage: I've always loved this song. I like how it is a little bit dirty, it's a 90s grunge band anyway! Sometimes I do love it when it rains, its just what I need sometimes. Two Stars.
The Rain: Will Smith: Already I am skeptical... Well, for good reason. I do love his voice, But I am not feeling this.
Rain: Breaking Benjamin: Oh how I needed this song in the fall of 2005. There was something about it that just ran through my veins. The rain stick, incredible. Sometimes life is just too much, all the rain is unbearable and you need some light. This song is a perfect take for that. Who knew a little nursery rhyme could sound so good?! Three Stars.
Raindrops: Regina Spektor: She's got a way of making sad songs sound a little more fun... her voice is so great. I like this song, it's cutesy. One Star.
Rainy Day: Guster: it starts off as a haunting sounding lullaby, and doesn't really change I am not feeling this one. It's actually a pretty good song, but I just don't like the anger behind the song. I do like the hand drums being used, but overall, I am not keeping it.
Set Fire To The Rain: Adele: Oh silly Adele, you can't set water on fire! I do like this song. I hate how it got overplayed, but I do still enjoy it occasionally. It's a good ballad to belt out in your car! Two Stars. This Reggae Version is pretty sweet too!
Remember When It Rained: Josh Groban: I remember being in high school and driving one night in the rain and this song came on and explained exactly what I was feeling. I just kept it on repeat and kept driving, letting the song wash over me and sang out as long as I could. Two Stars
All this talk about rain made me think of FRIENDS...Hope you enjoy this clip!

Bouncing Off The Ceilings: A*Teens: Okay, wow. So, I think I
have this CD because of my brother…who is 5 years younger than me, And a boy.
We were young, and I don’t know how he got this cd or got into A*Teens at all…
but it is great music to clean your room to(More like move things around and
get stuck reminiscing about it), garden to, or weed whack… at least that’s what
I use to do… how embarrassing! And yet, I still love it. I will be keeping this
one, cause it just makes me happy! Crazy Teen Pop Playlist? One Star.
Crazy Little Thing Called Love: Michael Bublé: It’s fun, it’s bubbly, it’s a swing. My mom has been obsessed with me dancing to this song, mainly the Queen version, but both good! One Star, great for a ballroom playlist.

Uh-huh: Munchausen By Proxy (Yes Man Soundtrack): Okay, well this song is pretty classic. One of my besties, Rachel, and I went and saw this movie like three times and laughed too hard each time. This song is great for any unseen breakup, perfect for the anger you feel and how you want to put him down and make him feel stupid. This helped my love for Zooey Deschanel, and I keep this song for anytime Rachel and I take another road trip, we will need this song. One Star.
Fire In The Water: Feist (Breaking Dawn Soundtrack): First off, I loved this movie. And the soundtrack was even better. That may have been the best part of the Twilight Series—the music. This song sounds like it’s on a tight rope, its high and light, and just seems to stay suspended in air. I’m giving this One Star, it won’t be one I listen to on its own, but with the soundtrack. And I’m okay with that.
Honestly: Cartel: I honestly don’t know how I got this song. I like it, I know all the words, and it is great for a punk rock play list. One Star.
Dead Wrong: The Fray: I normally like the sound of The Fray, But I’ve had this album for so long and never listened to it! I actually liked this song, all of the road type lyrics, I liked the sound. One Star.
Ready And Waiting To Fall: Mae: I remember being ready and waiting to fall—in love, with Mae, everyday. It is such a sweet song about being in love. I love it. Three Stars.
Love For All Seasons: Christina Aquilera: Nothin like some pop r&B… this song reminds me of being in 8th grade… and reading The Work And The Glory series. Don’t judge! I use to listen to this cd in my Walkman, on repeat while I read the books. It was the love song perfect for Lydia and Nathan. (How do I remember their names??!!) Anyway, I am hesitant to delete the song, but I don’t think I will ever play it on it’s own… I do like the concept of a love for all seasons, the way she talks about being your rain in the summer, sun in the winter, you’ll be the relief. For real for sure.
I Drive Myself Crazy: ‘N Sync: This song… oy… well the musicvideo is crazy, so that’s a start. Haha. I think this one gets cut, cause I
work with crazy girls, and I don’t need silly boy band music telling me that
some boy is being driven crazy by me… and it’s just slow and weird. CUT.
Track 9: You Lie: The Band Perry: It’s actually a fun song, I am not a big country gal, but I can see myself having a country playlist and enjoying this every once in awhile… And I enjoyed the music video! (even though her hair looks weird sometimes) One Star.
Punk Rock Princess: Something Corporate: Hello High School. This song is THE song on the punk rock playlist. Love it, it’s what we all wanted in high school, to be that punk rock princess. I know that for me, I kind of grew to like that I didn’t fit in, and that’s how I fit. At least in Junior High, I didn’t have a set lunch table, I would bounce from each group of friends and enjoy all of them. That’s what this song symbolizes for me. Haha… Two Stars.
What You Say: Sugar Cult: It’s funny to me how each day I do this, each playlist kind of takes a turn to become it’s own, and today it is a punk rock playlist. I like Sugarcult, but I don’t have any connection to this song. It kind of has a flat note to it, but I do like his voice… but, no connection = cut.

All My Days
All My Days: Alexi Murdoch: When this song started, I said, Ahhh... As a breath of fresh air. I believe this song was part of the trailer for Away We Go. Its a great indie and folky song, and as many songs do for me lately, makes me think of driving through a farmy countryside with the windows down and just being so content with life. It's a good introspective song. I feel like this song has a little bit of a bounce to it, and just a calming sense of happiness. Two Stars.
Candy: Will Smith: Interesting that I said that sound had a bounce to it, cause this song starts off with lets bounce... I actually don't think I can do this one at all. I love Will, he is attractive and funny and there will be some songs I keep.. but this is not one of them!
Track 8: Butterfly: Corinne Bailey Rae: sweet slow song, makes me want to stay inside on a cold day wrapped in a blanket and drinking tea. It's calming and nice. One Star.
Umbrella: Mandy Moore: I think this version is incredible! And not even because it's my girl... but I like the slowing down of the song, it feels more dramatic to me this way. I do love how Mandy is just so sweet and honest in the video too. One Star
Road Runner: Imelda May: This is such a fun and punchy song! I haven't used it on a workout mix yet, but I think it would pump me up. My sister recently told me about her, and I think she is fun. So Rockabilly, great sound and it is just fun! Two Stars. And the music video is funny
Caring Is Creepy: The Shins: I have this song because of the Garden State Soundtrack. I stand by this soundtrack as being good, but I do love the movie a lot more. I don't really feel like this is a song I really sing along to... so I am hesitant to keep it. It is eerie and I like that, but In cutthroat fashion...
Worry About You: Ivy: I love this band. I think they have a very watered down sound, almost like what you would hear if you were to listen to music underwater. I remember in college one of my friends mentioned that they liked how the female lead didn't seem to care about her image, as most often her face is covered in the album artwork. I like how mellow the song is, though sometimes I can't listen to too much Ivy in a row because it hurts my head how mellow they are. Weird right? One Star.
State of Grace: Taylor Swift: I have to say, I really enjoy this whole album. I like the sound, I like the direction, though the music videos are weird... (maybe just for We Are Never Ever...) but I like how light this song is, it sweet and I like it. One Star.
Rain On My Parade: Glee Version: It's a good version, but I fell out of love of Glee... and I just don't really feel like having it.
Make It Mine: Jason Mraz: I am touch and go with Mr. Mraz. But, I like this song. It is kind of 80s, with the trombone? Whatever instrument that is... It is kind of a sweet little song, makes me think of The Wedding Date and kind of other cheesy romantic movies...The music video kind of confirmed that, and I like it...it got a little weird too.. haha It's just one of those songs when you are just having a good day, for no reason. One Star.

Reasons Why
Crush: Mandy Moore: Well, we all know I am in love with Mandy, but more so her newer stuff. This song is so bubble pop! Its a cute little song though, for when you're feeling that puppy love and want a 90s type playlist. One Star
Track 4: I feel like a feather in the breeze: Don't know who it is by! (Here is a link to a version I don't have) But I enjoyed it. I got this song from a ballroom mix. It's a cute little Foxtrot. Makes me think of a woman with a ballgown with lots of feathers on the bottom, gliding around the floor. I give it One Star.
Kissing A Fool: Michael Buble: Smooth crooning, makes you think he is singing right to you... kitchen dancing worthy. Every so often, the Husband with lean in for a kiss, wrap his arms around me, and dip me. It's glorious! This song is also a foxtrot, as are most by Michael. Two Stars
Twistin the Night Away: It's a big ballroom playlist today! This is a fun swing song, Not my favorite, but I will keep it because I have danced to it! One star.
Don't Turn Around: Ace of Base: While this is a classic 90's song... (just watch the video to see for yourself) I don't feel like I need to keep it. It is a little whiny, and doesn't pump me up, and if I ever want to host a 90's party, I'll know where to find it to play then. deleted.
Crazy For You: N'Sync: It's about time! So, I believe I mentioned that in the battle of N'Sync and Backstreet Boys I chose 98*. That said, I know every word to every song on this CD, and I think it was before the 5 or more times Sarah and I serenaded our roommate Emmalee with the album. The Best Damn Thing: Avril Lavinge: speaking of pop song rap... could be good for an angry girl playlist... but... I'm not feeling it. haha, cutthroat Jenni strikes again! deleted.
This is For Real: Motion City Soundtrack: I'd say this goes on a Summer 2007 Playlist. That's when I heard of this band, and you better believe I thought my friend was talking about a movie soundtrack when he first asked if I had heard of it... This song reminds me of going 90 on I-15 from Rexburg to Pocatello or vise versa. Makes me think of driving through the countryside, seeing fields or farmland... I still enjoy this song, I like how his voice is a little dirty, sometimes scratchy.. (please note that some of their songs are a little heavy on swearing) Ironicly, that relationship was NOT the best thing I had ever had. For Real. Two Stars.
A Box Full of Sharp Objects: The Used: Ahhh the time of Screamo... I once mastered the scream! It takes a lot of pain and anger to do this. I might keep one of two songs of the Used cause I do still like a little bit of screamo... this is not one of them. Too much screaming, it hurts my ears. (no age jokes please...) deleted.
Moon Dance: Van Morrison?: This is off an album one of my wedding couples had brought in to me when I did my internship at Arthur Murray in 2007. We decided to make a swing and foxtrot to the song. They were a fun couple! This song is a One Star earner for me, mostly because it kind of drags on there at the end...
Such A Pretty Lie: The Wrens: This is another song that was on one of my indie playlists that Ben had introduced me to. My "emo" name for this mixed CD is called "One Last Kiss Before Dying" I like this. I like the different speeds the song goes, how it kind of slows down, the music gets quieter, then picks back up... One Star.
Obvious: Blink182: I do kind of like this song, until it swore. I wasn't expecting that. I know that I have a LOT of Blink on my computer, and it is mostly due to saying, oh I like them, friend give me all your music of them, and then never going through what I actually liked. This one I do kind of like, but it sounds a little too chaotic for me. deleted.
Right Here Waiting: Richard Marx: I've always enjoyed this song. It makes me think of playing with my barbies when I was younger. My favorite part was usually just dressing them up, but when I would finally get around to playing, it was usually to a song (And most often Open Arms by Mariah Carey [That's the original as far as I am concerned!!]) But this song makes me think of that too, the type of song I would use to reunite dear Barbie to her Ken after the evil barbie had stolen him away or something... let's not analyze the mind of 9 year old Jenni mmkay? Thanks! One Star.
Reasons Why: Nickle Creek: My first introduction to this band was with the song The Lighthouse. Loved that, and I like this song. It's a very folky song, bluegrass? I'm not sure, but I think this song talks about how you can fall in love so quick, but be skeptical at the same time. This won't be a song I listen to all the time, but it stays. It's the kind of song for a lazy afternoon in the summer picking and eating peas off the vine. One Star.

Track 4: I feel like a feather in the breeze: Don't know who it is by! (Here is a link to a version I don't have) But I enjoyed it. I got this song from a ballroom mix. It's a cute little Foxtrot. Makes me think of a woman with a ballgown with lots of feathers on the bottom, gliding around the floor. I give it One Star.
Kissing A Fool: Michael Buble: Smooth crooning, makes you think he is singing right to you... kitchen dancing worthy. Every so often, the Husband with lean in for a kiss, wrap his arms around me, and dip me. It's glorious! This song is also a foxtrot, as are most by Michael. Two Stars
Twistin the Night Away: It's a big ballroom playlist today! This is a fun swing song, Not my favorite, but I will keep it because I have danced to it! One star.
Don't Turn Around: Ace of Base: While this is a classic 90's song... (just watch the video to see for yourself) I don't feel like I need to keep it. It is a little whiny, and doesn't pump me up, and if I ever want to host a 90's party, I'll know where to find it to play then. deleted.
Crazy For You: N'Sync: It's about time! So, I believe I mentioned that in the battle of N'Sync and Backstreet Boys I chose 98*. That said, I know every word to every song on this CD, and I think it was before the 5 or more times Sarah and I serenaded our roommate Emmalee with the album. not all my songs are Bulletproof
Yellow: Coldplay: If I were to make a playlist that included songs as colors... obvious choice. Otherwise, I've always enjoyed this song. So mellow, so 2000s. A song about unrequited love, that leaves you wanting more, wanting to be on the beach at sunset, be star gazing, Two Stars (look how they shine for you)
I Write Sins Not Tragedies: Panic At The Disco: It was the Summer of 2006. I remember being with one of my roommates, we were having a hard time with the others, and they never seemed to be able to shut the door... so this song was pretty perfect for us... But, I don't really feel like this song needs to be in my collection anymore. Removed...(I might just remove the whole album while I am at it, I don't feel a connection to it when looking through the songs, and I am not sure if I ever did listen to the whole album.)
Bulletproof: La Roux: I got this one as a single from iTunes, and I am glad I did! I think it is a punchy and fun song, a little bit of girl power, I think it is a good song for pumping you up at the gym. Two Stars.
She Will Be Loved: Maroon 5: You know... I am actually not a big fan of this song. It is a song about a sad girl. Right now I just feel like the song is trying too hard and I am not feeling it. (Or am I just in a mood of cutting music?! ) Well... say goodbye...
Knights Of Shame: AWOLNation: Okay. this song is 11 minutes and 36 seconds long. But, I really respect it. I feel like it goes through so many different styles of music and is fun! I also saw them in concert and they were terrific. The lead singer goes through and plays all the instruments in the end, as his band leaves... and it was impressive. Two Stars, for originality.
Backyards of Our Neighbors: Au Revoir Simone: I went through a phase were I would download every song that was played on Grey's Anatomy. This is one of those, it is mellow, and almost sounds like you're in a hospital with that whisping air noise... It is kind of a haunted song... But, it's just that day for me I guess, Au Revoir, Simone.
OOOh! Here is a surprise song! It is currently labeled Track 2 from a cd I burned from my friend Rachel, on a cd called "Love" So... Listening, googling lyrics "Got a picture of You I carry in my heart"
It is called Not A Day Goes By: LoneStar: Well, I am not a big country fan. The lyrics are nice, and I could see this on a lovey dovey playlist, but... the twang is a little too distracting to me and I am not in love with the lyrics. Cut.
Fantasy: Mariah Carey: Hello 4th grade! I remember my friend Nicole and I were planning on trying out to the talent show with this one. We didn't end up trying out, but in 5th grade we did, but with a different song, She ended up not doing it and I had a solo. This song reminds me of the good ol days of MTV, or roller skating parties at Pattison West in Auburn. Makes me happy, would be great on a 90's playlist. One Star.
Finally: Trust Company: I have this cd because of an ex-boyfriend. It is darker, it reminds me of the many times we broke up, when I was brokenhearted. But again, seriously guys, I am cut throat today... and this one is out too.
Midnight Coward: Stars: Well first off, I love Stars. They are the band I used to help tell my now husband that I was falling in love with him back when we were dating... I love how their music usually tells a really great story, be it sad or happy. Their voices together are just magical to my ears. Parts of this song remind me of the Beatles, and then I love how they slow it down... Two Stars. (ha!)
Hello: Oasis: I remember this being one of my sister's first cds, and sneaking to listen to it. I'd put this on a 90's mix, or a British Invasion playlist, except for that it isn't one of my favorite songs on the album so I am tempted to cut it...
Tourniquet: Evanescence:I have to give it to this gal, she's got a great voice. Unfortunately I don't care for this song and it is cut. I had gotten this CD in 2005 I think... and used it as a coping mechanism in 2006 when I was again heartbroken by the same ex-boyfriend as mentioned earlier in this post. This song is just too dark for me now.
Sorry that this post had more cuts than ratings! But, that's part of what this whole project is about...
