I'm Real: The Starting Line: Such a classic part of high school, the (pop) punk music obsession... It's a fun song and I like their take on this Jennifer Lopez song. But overall it isn't my favorite and it seems to be missing something, so it goes...

Solid Ground: Ms. John Soda ?? : This is the type of song that could put you in a trance. It is smooth and kind of floats, and I love the orchestra/wood wind? instruments in it. Two Stars.

RoofTop: Dave Matthews Band: Already I am apprehensive to rate this one... because my husband loves DMB, and I only sometimes do. So, lets listen and see what to do... If I do delete them I know he still has them so it won't be the end of the world... I am actually kind of digging the earthiness of the song, in the chorus. Okay, this one stays. Two Stars.

Never Give Up On The Good Times: Spice Girls: I think the flute in here makes me think of Anchor Man... I think it is time to give up on this "good time" love you spice girls, but this isn't your finest! haha...

All I Want Is You: Barry Louis Polisar: It's a cutesy little song from the movie Juno, which I felt was the epitome of Indie music in movies... and the harmonica is nice... but I will let it go.

Warwick Avenue: Duffy: Such a good song to croon along to... Note to self, look up more from Duffy. The music video started as what I was expecting, and stayed the same, I expected a little more than just her in the car, but it is still good. Two Stars.

Sun Hands: Local Natives: already reviewed, loved, Four Stars (because of the sweet drop and option to rock out!)

Dirrty: Christina Aguilera: I must admit, this is a mainstay on my workout playlist. I love that they say "Ring the alarm and I'm throwing elbows" Three stars.

Many The Miles: Sara Barellis: this is a sweet and fun song, just nice and sunny. Seems like a great road trip song when you are driving to see your love... Two stars.

Ooh La La: Goldfrapp: this song seems thin, but it's fun. One Star.

Tarantula: Smashing Pumpkins: I am very tempted to just delete all of the pumpkins... I kind of said I liked them due to one guy I dated... And this song particularly seemed like our song, but he was a cheater... This song does seem to have high energy. But, I don't really like the pumpkins as a whole... this song is gone.

You'll See: Bedroom: When this song came up I said, I don't even know how I got this song. Do you have any of those in your collection? Well, it is a light and tinny song, it is kind of enjoyable, but also kind of so high pitched that it's hurting my ears, it seems like a simple song, one you would hear in a movie soundtrack while someone is driving along the coast. I'm going to cut it since I don't know where it came from and it didn't really spark anything within me.

Journey To The Past: Aaliyah: First off, it is from Anastasia and is a classic, and I like it. I do think I like the version in the movie a little more, but I am keeping it. It's a soundtrack anyway... One Star.

SuperStar: Nina Gordon: My mom first had a CD by Nina, and I would listen to it as a read a series of books and they always make me think of that character... then a few years ago I decided to look her up again and she had one or two songs on an album that I liked so I bought it, burnt it onto my computer and sent it to my mom. Haha... this song is kind of slow and sad but hopeful... I am deleting it though.

Ola Chica: Chico Fernandez: What a great way to wrap up today's post! This is one of my all time favorite Cha Cha songs. This use to be my ringtone, my dear friend David bought me a CD just for this song, it was one of the first songs I remember seeing performed to at BYU-I, and I later coached a team and taught the same dance that Ron Montez (THE Montez!!) choreographed for BYU-I. So much love for this song, the dance department at BYU-I, it is just a fun and happy song, and one of my favorites. FIVE STARS!!!!!

Midnight Bottle

Midnight Bottle: Colbie Caillat: Speaking of Midnight Bottles, I've found a smoothie that helps me sleep deep and through the night! It's delicious! 1/4 c frozen cherries, 1 c almond milk, 1 TBSP peanut butter, splash of vanilla, half a banana, ice cubes, and I add some flax and chia seeds for fun. And sometimes some cocoa powder to make it chocolatey! And it totally helps me to sleep well. Back to the song...It's a fairly light and breezy song, a good rumba, makes me want to be in a hotel room on the beach with the wind blowing through the curtains. One Star.

Payphone: Maroon 5: First off, this song shouldn't really be about payphones cause I never see any anymore... but anyway. It's a catchy and pop song, the Husband loves it so I'll keep it (though I like it too) One Star.

Die Alone: Ingrid Michaelson: It might be my copy of the song, but it is a tinny sounding copy... but I kind of like it. It works with the song to be that way. It;s a good song for a commute, when the sun is shining and you're enjoying the day. One Star. 

To The Moon & Back: Savage Garden: Savage Garden was such a futuristic yet perfectly contemporary band. I'm a little sad they are no longer a band... but I am also okay with it. I can't entirely decide what I think of this song.. I know every word, but it isn't quite a good pump up song, I don't think it has enough to stay on as a road trip song because it isn't as well known... well, when it doubt, throw it out!

Girl America: Mat Kearney: once it started I said, gone. I'm not much a fan of talk-singing. And then there are some drug references, tossed.

Ladies' Choice: Mandy Moore: Ahh I love Mandy! This is a great tune. reviewed here.  Three Stars.

Spin Around: Josie and the Pussycats: I think my mom bought this cd, and I had seen the movie once and it was terrible and mediocre but the music was fun... it was a good road trip CD in college! One Star.

Will You Still Find Me: Aereogramme: It's a smooth and flowing song, one that makes you forget how time moves. I was able to find the song on youtube.  It's such a watery song, One Star.

Staple it together: Jack Johnson: It's a fun little number, easy going, good for doing the dishes to. One Star.

Saturday In The Park

Don't Leave Me: All American Rejects: I enjoy songs that have a little bit of counting and rhyming off of it. This song reminds me of high school and college, road trips and boys. One Star

Do It: Spice Girls: Well I like the Spice Girls... but this song... it doesn't really have anything for me.

I Got You: Train: It's funny, for some reason I had HATED Train for forever! Then I stopped. But that doesn't mean I love all of their songs.. This song is basically a remix of Black Water by the Doobie Brothers. It's a fine song, it's sunny and warm, but I am not loving it. (and I know my husband has it)

Running on Sunshine: Jesus Jackson: Talking about a sunny and warm song! This is a groovy song that makes you want to dance (at least me...) I like the slide on whatever instrument that is... and it is a fun song. Three Stars



Audrey, Start The Revolution: Anberlin: I really like this band! I like the hard way the instruments are played, and then it is soft... This song is really just a love song. Two Stars.

Mother Mother: The Veronicas: I don't recall listening to this song much when I got the CD... and it doesn't connect to me. 

Gold: Owl City: My husband loves Owl City, so I think I got this from him... I like Owl City because one of my nephew's favorite songs was Fireflies and I thought it was adorable how he loved it so much. This song is actually pretty sweet. One Star.

Golden Years: David Bowie: I got this song because I loved it in A Knight's Tale, it's cooky, funky, and fun. One Star.

You Got What I Need: Joshua Radin: Ahh the summer of 2011... magical romances of what could not be... This is a good kitchen dancing song, takes me back to 2007 when I did an internship at a dance studio and me and the other intern would close the studio, turn off the lights and turn the music up... Four Stars.

Crash Course: Spill Canvas: Oh my goodness! I love this song! It's upbeat and fun, it is summer in a song, just fun and sweet, the lyrics are really cute. "Collision unavoidable" Perfect for love.  Four Stars.

Waiting: The Rocket Summer: I don't know how I got this song, but it seems light and cute, his voice is slightly whiny, but I am enjoying the song... One star.

Evidence: Jimmy Eat World: Haven't listened to this song much since I got the CD, well actually haven't listened to Jimmy since I got the cd... It's always good stuff, I guess I just have to be in the mood for it which isn't too often... This seems to be a good song. One Star. 

He's Not A Boy: The Like: This song is spunky and fun, so I got the whole CD... should have just stuck with this song, I really like the retro feel of this one, the music video is just a party. One Star.

Saturday In The Park: Chicago: This is one of my mom's favorite songs, I think I got it one time for a road trip I knew she and I would be taking. It is another fresh and light song, talking of good times and it's just cute. Three Stars.

Pressed in a Book: The Shins: I am conflicted here. This song is kind of fun, but I don't entirely love this band due to an ex-boyfriend who did love them. One Star...

The Forecast: Jason Mraz: I was skeptical when this one came up cause I am not the biggest fan of Mr. AZ... but I enjoy this one. I like all of the talk of the weather (this should have been in my Rain playlist!) It's a light and breezy song, makes me think of sitting in a coffee shop while reading, just content to pass time. Two Stars.

Because of this dance (you have to watch the back story.. I was crying. She's legally blind, but has a dance internship at Julliard... and is incredible.) I had to get the song, Stars by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. And after having listened to that song, I saw another that I thought I might like cause I typically enjoy songs about Paris, and Paris (Ooh La La) was what I wanted. Part of the background music sounds familiar but I don't know from where...

Love on Top, Beyonce: I love the power behind this song, she seems to attack the song, but it is so good, catchy, and fun.

Secret Oath

1000 Miles: Vanessa Carlton: This seemed to be THE song of 2002. I like the piano, so her music video is kind of fun. This song reminds me of the guy I went to my first Prom with, lets call him "Dustin". I think sometimes my mom would drive us somewhere and we would hold hands in the back seat, and that's the memory I have of this song. Also, that scene in White Chicks. Not to mention this scene in White Chicks. That alone has made me exclaim: This is MY Jam whenever a commercial, classical music, or anything that could be embarrassing come on the radio...
One Star, for nostalgia.

Your Name Here (Sunrise Highway): Straylight Run:  I don't know how, but I have a full album by them... and I don't even know who they are. This song is nice, a sad song a little... It's kind of fun cause it is giving directions to his location, where he will be waiting. One Star.

Stellar: Incubus: I've loved them for awhile, never enough to get a full CD, just songs I have heard on the radio... and I like this one. It is quiet, then it rocks out, just a good piece of alternative music for any collection. Two Stars.

Better Off Dead: New Found Glory: Ahh high school... your ska/punk scene was so lovely! This song is fun and clever when you get to the ending (Just listened to the ending...apparently not this song has the clever ending I was thinking about...). It's good for road trips, for reminiscing, for cleaning the house. (I just now had the thought, what are my kids going to think of all the music I liked? Will I like their music? AHH) Two Stars.

Shake (clean): Yin Yang Twins: The reason I got this song is because of this competition piece. I've always wanted to be spun by my elbow ever since. I think this song is racy, it isn't one that I play often, but I think it has a great back beat, and I enjoy it in my workout mix, it can pump me up. One Star.


Last Love Song: ZZ Ward: Okay, she's my newest obsession. And this song... it's good. She lists off all of the things you and her won't do, all of the things you won't have... no more... it's a heartbreaking realization for her, but it is something she must do, to write this last love song... It's good, and I am obsessed with the Adele meets Fiona Apple type gal from Seattle... (which only strengthens my love for her). Three Stars.


Secret Oath: Spill Canvas: Oh how I love Spill Canvas! I forget about them every once in awhile... and then I hear them again and remember how I love them. I remember playing this CD as my secret way of proclaiming my love to "Dave" (whom I've affectionately referred to as devil dave in the past...) Anyway, I was in love with him in 2007 on my internship, he said it could never be, but would cuddle with me and I was reading mega mixed signals... But I wouldn't stop, just like he says in this song... I LOVE the ending, how he then talks to us, the listener... Three stars.



Obsession: Frankie J: I got this from a roommates mixed CD... it's a chill R&B song, but I'm not feeling a connection.

Say It Ain't So: Weezer: Another song that reminds me about "dave". He would get tired of me playing Spill Canvas on our drive to work, and he loved Weezer... this is a slow song but it is fun, I enjoy the chorus the most. One Star.

Debussie: Daphne Loves Derby: I've loved this band ever since I met the original bassist, Jason, at EFY. I would listen to them through whatever website it was when myspace wasn't as cool and youtube wasn't around, but it was just for upcoming bands... anywho. This is one of their slower songs that I don't love as much, but the lead singer's voice is so smooth. Two Stars.

So Stylistic!

Oh My Love: Inara George: Her voice is so crisp, clear and a little bit retro. It's a slow and sweet little song... from Grey's Anatomy, but I didn't feel a connection to keep it... I might look for some more music by her because I enjoy her sound.

Words Cannot Describe: Mirah: This is a fun little song about love that has a pitter patter sound to it. It's such a short little song too, with a little bit of flute. Two Stars. (goes in my kitchen dancing mix)

Once Upon a December: Liz Callaway, Anastasia Soundtrack: First off, I adore this movie--though it does get a little chaotic and crazy! I had always enjoyed it, but when I went to Russia I loved it even more! Its a good little Viennese Waltz (though overdone...) It really does conjure up some images in my mind when it is playing, and her voice is pretty enjoyable. Two Stars.

Track 4: Tango Mix: I don't know if I will be able to find the name of this one, but it is kind of an electronic song with Tango beats and some Argentine sounds... it is fun and I will keep it for my ballroom playlist, It made me start tapping my toes and itching to go out dancing... hope the Husband doesn't mind!! Oh, Turns out, it is a version of Whatever Lola Wants! Here is a clip of someone dancing to it... Two Stars

So Stylistic!: FannyPack: Okay, this song is silly and awesome and so much fun. I like to play this on roadtrips and use that time to try to learn all the lyrics. I think the work Stylistic is so great! (Thanks Ben, I still like this one) It's an electronic rap by two girls from Brooklyn, they really are stylistic! I'll just give it One Star though, It doesn't get much playtime...

Awake: Josh Groban: First, this is a live concert edition... which I am not naturally as interested in unless I had been there. Second, I had really enjoyed Josh when he first came out, and he is very talented... but I remember my mom getting me the CD and I hadn't asked, so I never actually listened to it, cause you know how you do the pre-listen, trying to hear what parts of songs you are interested in, but there weren't any so I never listened... So, listening to it now, it is a pretty good song... but the cheering crowd in the background is annoying to me. So, I am thinking I might delete this whole CD.

Love Shack: B52's: This is only an obvious song that most everyone will have. It's a fun party song! One Star. (cause its fun but always gets annoying. Is it really 5 minutes long??!)

Reclusion: Anberlin: this has a fun electronic opening then it rocks out. I love Anberlin, especially for road trips cause the music is easy to sing along to. The chorus of this song is haunting--Sins like Skeletons are so very hard to hide...  I think this is usually a pretty good song for running too, has a good beat that can help pump you up.Two Stars.

Sweet Home Alabama: Lynyrd Skynyrd: Such a classic song, a good country dancin' song. Also great for road trips! Three Stars.

Universe and U: KT Tunstall: Its a smooth song, kind of a lullaby. It's a good song, but no connection.

Killer Queen: Queen: Classic, makes you sing along and just feel great! Another great one for road trips. Three Stars.

Somebody to Love: Queen: just a classic rock-opera song. We've all had those times in our lives, looking for someone to love, to share with, it's just so applicable to everyone! 3 stars. It reminds me of this... and makes me smile.

Cubism Dream: Local Natives: Already reviewed, 2 stars.

Addicted: Kelly Clarkson: I remember my 2nd year of college, I was dating a guy who had recently disclosed to me that he was addicted to drugs and alcohol, (I never thought I'd be in a situation like that) I remember listening to this whole CD by Kelly religiously, and I wrote him a letter explaining how each of these songs related to our situation. While he was addicted to substances, I was addicted to him. This song has a haunting quality to it, I still like Kelly overall, but I don't think I need this song anymore.

Brand New Day: Joshua Radin: this song is light, like spring, hopeful and breezy. It makes you want to step outside and take a deep breath in of warmth and sunlight in the air... 3 stars. The music video is fun too!

Angry Situation: Save Ferris: I remember using this song in a video me and my friends in High school, Alyssa and Richard, made for our video production class. It's a fun ska song, but more dark than most ska... and more dark than I am feeling now...

Don't Push Love Away: Juliana Theory: This is a song that you can cry to sometimes... it gives you permission! "She's crying..." I like the blend of all the instruments in here. 2 stars.

Rolling In On a Burning Tire: The Dead Weather: Breaking Dawn Part 2 Soundtrack: This song is dark but enticing... it's smoldering, rich, and also curious. I don't think this is one I will come to on it's own, but I like it with the soundtrack. One Star.

Something I Never Had: Lindsay Lohan: I actually like this one... I can see it being a Viennese Waltz where the partnerships keep changing and no one ends with who they started with... One Star.

Nightingale: Norah Jones:This song is so light and smooth, like a breeze through sheer curtains... a lullaby.  Three Stars.

Satellites: Doves: This song is crazy awesome in headphones! It sounds weightless and makes you feel like you're in outer space, and like the song is just out of reach... Thank you Ben for introducing this song to me in our Frozen Lakes era (2005), I feel like I should find more stuff from them now! Three stars.
